I've also learnt new techniques & adapted techniques to suit the different materials.
I've used materials which are readily available, some I've made myself.
My creative goal for 2016 was to end the year with a body of art work that I love & happily, I have. I've used traditional techniques from different cultures & brought them together in innovative ways. I've also learnt new techniques & adapted techniques to suit the different materials. I've used materials which are readily available, some I've made myself. I've been able to take ideas from concept to completion which is enormously satisfying. I've enjoyed the pleasure of being engrossed in the process. I am genuinely content with where I'm at & already totally engrossed in this years explorations.
After I finished the 2nd cross pollination, which I love, Hugh asked me if I'd ever considered doing a work which didn't involve orthogonal lines.
I had no idea what he was talking about so after he patiently (very patiently) explained it I thought i'd give it a try . . . this is the 2nd large circular work in this series which uses muka (fibre from harakeke) & embroidery floss when i completed the 1st in july 2016 i didn't know there was even going to be a 2nd but i'm glad there is because this is one is my favourite . . . & there will be a 3rd here is a photo journal of the process
