"We live on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand.
Our land was created by volcanic eruptions from our iconic mountain, Taranaki.
Taranaki (the mountain) stands to the south of us & is dormant now.
It is difficult to explain the influence Taranaki has on people who live here.
We live quietly on the fertile soil of the rolling hills, on the ring plain, surrounded by verdant, healthy, lowland forest which is alive with native birds, flora, invertebrates & insects. We love it that way & we do everything within our capabilities to maintain the balance in the favour of what should be here.
To the north we can see & hear the ocean.
Our predominant winds blow from the west; the cold winds from the south; the tree-eating winds from the east & the warm winds from the north.
It rains a lot . . .
. . . it's lovely being home."
