Cross Pollination - A Large Circle of Woven & Crossing Threads

10/8/2016

undyed muka, cotton embroidery floss on cotton fabric
60cm fabric square, 40cm diameter circle
OK, so these are my unspoken rules for making:
a) if i REALLY don't like what i'm doing, i stop doing it
b) if i don't really like what i'm making, sometimes i keep making it
c) other times, although i like what i'm doing, it is tiresome
this large circle was
d) all of the above

there was a moment today, when i had taken it off the frame, that i looked at it & felt nothing

i plopped it into it's bath of sunlight soap & as it relaxed into the warm, familiar scented water i realised
i knew it well
astoundingly well

a simple story of woven threads held together by criss-crossing threads . . . but it's only half the story
