Cut & Polished

14/11/2014

Hugh has recently completed several beautiful new works from which he has chosen 'Spirit House' & 'Tui 2' to be part of 'Cut & Polished' Te Kupenga Stone Sculpture Society's biennial small sculpture exhibition.
The exhibition runs from November 4th to November 29th 2014 & is in the upstairs exhibition space at Real TArt Gallery here in New Plymouth.

'Spirit House' measures 280 x 180 x 180mm

'Tui 2'
'Tui 2' is a wall piece & measures 320 x 140 x 20mm

Both sculptures are made from the local volcanic stone from our mountain.
They are fabulous works which demonstrate the amazing natural variability of the stone in both colour & texture.
Simple design has enabled these characteristics to be incorporated into each piece & demonstrate the versatility of the medium.
If you are in town during November go take a look at the exhibition as there will be many interesting works including 'Spirit House' & 'Tui 2'.
