T Rex was the most ferocious predator to ever walk the earth. . . .

. . . . .but this guy just wants a cuddle
I wanted to make a knitted dinosaur for a special little 4 yr old boy for Xmas.

Through stealth, I was able to confirm his favourite dinosaur is T-Rex & that he thought they would have been blue, so happily I went to look at the T Rex pattern in my favourite knitted dinosaurs book.

Which is when the confusion began . . .

I adore this book, seriously one of my all time ever favourite books.
It’s right up there with Dr Suess & Hone Tuwhare's books of poetry ( don't judge!)

But… I do not like the T Rex pattern at all !

So then, like any good dinosaur knitter worth her weight in yarn, I decided to do some research.

What I have discovered is that there are many similarities between T Rex & Allosaurus.

They are both bipeds with ridulously small arms.
They both have lots of sharp teeth with which to consume items from their carnivorous diet.
They were both generally pretty cranky.

And a few important differences

They lived at different times, which was probably a very very very good thing.
T Rex was much larger but, would you believe, had even shorter arms than allosaurus ! Ridiculous !
I still think they’ve got that wrong & am waiting for science to find the other pieces !!!!

So, I have used the Allosaurus pattern & called it a T Rex & know one will ever know . . .
